The Philippine men’s under-22 football team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Vietnam over the weekend in Group A of the 2019 AFF U-22 Youth Championship, which is currently taking place at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The two went into halftime scoreless. However, by the 50th minute, midfielder Jeremiah Borlongan put the Philippines on the scoreboard off a free kick. The Vietnamese side later took the lead off a pair of goals with striker Trần Danh Trung scoring an equalizer in the 74th minute and late substitute Lê minh bình making 2-1 in the 78th minute.
