Boxer Carlo Peñalosa of San Carlos City knocked out Thai fighter Watana Phenbaan in a non-title bout over the weekend at the SM City North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City.

The win marks the eight straight victory for the Negrense boxer.

Peñalosa dominated from the opening round as he dismantled Phenbaan with combinations. It was the same scenario for the Negrense in the second frame as his punches penetrated the Thai fighter’s defense. The San Carlos City fighter went in for the kill in the third round as he pummeled Phenbaan with straights and combinations before dropping his opponent for good with a strong right hook to the body.

Peñalosa now holds a 14-1-0 win-loss-draw record.

Meanwhile, in the undercard fight, Ruben Traza of Bacolod City was unsuccessful in his return to the ring after losing via unanimous decision to newcomer John Mark Tihuk.
