Negros Occidental set to defend boys’ basketball title

The Negros Occidental elementary boys’ basketball team is gearing up to defend their Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet title. This year’s competition opened over the weekend at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City, Capiz.

“We like our chances,” said head coach Renato Callora, Jr. “Iloilo remains the team to beat for us as.”

“We also cannot discount on Capiz because they are the host,” he added.

Making this year’s roster include Bacolod Tay Tung High School standouts Ronn Bedonia, Alexander Dingcong, Vince Hugo, Carl Justine Jalea, Emanuel Salvio, Philippe Sison, Toni Siglos, Dave Recodo and Kian James Ramos; alongside Burj Lapuos and Luke Zapata from St. John’s Institute and Fourth Teruel of the University of St. La Salle.

Negros Occidental is also defending champions in the WVRAA 3×3 basketball competition./ASC, WDJ
