The camp representing World Boxing Organization (WBO) world super flyweight championship Donnie Nietes recently confirmed negotiations are currently underway for a rematch against fellow Negrense, Aston Palicte.
Michael Aldeguer of ALA Boxing Promotions, which handles Nietes’ bouts, said they have already spoken with Roy Jones, Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions, which manages Palicte.
“We never said we won’t be fighting Palicte,” he said in a statement. “What we said is Nietes is looking for the bigger fights and still weighing the options, including fighting Palicte.”
The WBO issued a letter last week requesting the two Filipino fighters agree to a fight.
The two fought last September at The Forum in Inglewood, California, in the United States, which ended in a split draw./ASC, WDJ
