Sipalay City struck by two minor earthquakes over the weekend

Saturday night tremor shakes Guimbal
Sipalay City experienced two minor earthquakes Saturday morning. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a 2.9-magnitude quake was recorded north of the Negros Occidental city just before 4:00 a.m. The second tremor occurred later that morning, just after 9:00 a.m., also striking north of the city and measuring 2.4 in magnitude.
That evening, around 9:20 p.m., a 2.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded just south of Guimbal, Iloilo.
According to subsequent PHIVOLCS bulletins, no damage was reported as a result of any of the tremors.
There were also no aftershocks expected.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
