National University (NU) banked on late conversions to escape with a 93-89 win over Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV) in the 3rd Mayor Neil Lizares’ Basketball Exhibition on Saturday at the Talisay City Gym in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The game remained tight until the final two minutes, when the UAAP team utilized their experience to take the win.
Anchoring the offense for NU were Issa Gaye, siblings Shaun Danielle and Sean Dave Ildefonso, and incoming sophomores John Lloyd Clemente and Jonas Tibayan.
Leading the way for CSAV were foreign player Junior Essakadoualla; Carl Magbanua; and Jeffrey Manday, who failed to finish the match after suffering from cramps.
Prior to the exhibition, Talisay City head coaches were treated to a free coaching clinic with NU mentor Michael Jay Jarin.
The exhibition basketball game and coaching clinic were part of the city’s Pasidungog Festival./ASC, WDJ
