Himamaylan City Councilor Justin Gatuslao, who is a candidate for Himamaylan City vice mayor in the upcoming midterm elections, rebuffed claims made on social media suggesting he receives a commission for recommending personnel for Bacolod City call centers.
In a statement sent to local media, he called the accusations “an act of desperation.”
According to a certain Rogelio Arnulfo, Gatsualo reportedly receives “P10,000 for every call center he successfully endorse [sic].”
Cristina Basa, head of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center, came to the city councilor’s defense, asserting, “What he is saying is tantamount to libel and false accusation.”
She characterized Arnulfo as a “basher,” saying, “[He] needs to be more careful.”
The provincial official also called on the accuser to “come out in the open” and talk with Gatuslao.
Meanwhile, the city councilor also said he received a threat from a certain Lyn Dungg.
Gatuslao said the incident has already been reported to police./DGB, WDJ
