Guimaras and Iloilo were both struck by minor earthquakes Thursday evening. The first tremor occurred around 7:07 p.m., with an epicenter located southwest of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; while the second quake was recorded just before 10:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Tubungan, Iloilo.
Both incidents were fairly minor with the Guimaras quake measuring 2.4 in magnitude and the Iloilo tremor had a magnitude of 2.5.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, no damage was reported as a result of the tremor.
There were also no aftershocks expected.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
