Nearly identical legislation was passed last April
The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution during their regular session earlier this week calling on the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office to implement the existing no parking policy along Lacson Street between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
According to the legislation, authored by City Councilor Caesar Distrito, a parking ban along the major roadway was already on the books, pointing out, the parking ban schedule was previously extended from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to its current time frame.
“Lacson Street is the busiest main thoroughfare of the city [and] caters [to] thousands of vehicles,” the resolution stated. “It also has several traffic congestion points, particularly during rush hour, and among its leading causes [is] the blatant parking of vehicles [along] the street.”
Last April, the SP passed a similar resolution calling for the enforcement of existing policies that prohibit parking along Lacson and Araneta Streets between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
According to the legislation, also authored by Distrito, congestion along the said roadways has increased due to lacking enforcement of the said policies./WDJ
