The Negros Occidental Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) recently turned over homes to 20 families in Cadiz City and Manapla. The homes were all duplex-type structures and each locality received five houses.
TESDA-Region VI Director Ashary A. Banto led the awarding ceremony in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City. She was joined by TESDA-Negros Occidental Director Jimmicio S. Daoaten, TESDA-Aklan Director Joel M. Villagracia, Universal School of Applied Technology of Sagay City, Inc. administrators, Barangay Daga Captin Lucien B. Olvido, among others.
Banto also led the same ceremony at the Gawad Kalinga Village in Manapla’s Barangay Punta Mesa, alongside Manapla Mayor Lourdes Escalante. The same TESDA officials were also present for the event, along with personnel from the TESDA Regional Training Center-Talisay City, the Barangay Punta Mesa Council, among others.
The Manapla project was part of the Yolanda Rehabilitation and Recovery Program-Training cum Production program, which seeks to provide sustainable development for communities affected by Super Typhoon “Yolanda,” which struck the Philippines in 2013./WDJ
