Global FC issued a statement on social media revealing the club will be relocating from Cebu City to Makati City ahead of the 2019 Philippine Premier League (PPL), which starts next month.
“The new PPL will be played mostly in Manila until the new format is sustainable for all clubs,” Global FC said in their statement. “Teams have been asked to relocate to Manila.”
The club is expected to hold a press conference next week to formally announce the move away from the place they called home for the past two years.
Makati City was previously home to Kaya FC, which has since moved to Iloilo City.
Global FC has recently been involved in controversy regarding financial matters, with players taking to social media claiming they have not yet received their salaries from the 2018 Philippines Football League, which concluded last August.
Last May, a match between Kaya FC-Iloilo and Global was postponed after the latter admitted financial matters prevented the club from traveling./ASC, WDJ
