After kicking off the Lunar New Year celebration in Iloilo City with a fireworks display at the Iloilo City Grandstand, the Chinese New Year Grand Parade, which runs from the Provincial Capitol to the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Arch, will take place on Friday, February 8, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

At the end of the parade route, there will also be a cultural presentation at 6:00 p.m.

In addition, the Chinese New Year Food Festival will take place that same day from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. along Iznart Street.

“The celebration is recognition [for] the significant contributions [by] the Filipino-Chinese community benefiting the Ilonggos,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III.

The Bacolaodiat Festival, Bacolod City’s annual Lunar New Year observance, came to a close yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center.

The event, which formally opened last Friday, included a parade of mascots, street dance competition, nightly music festivals, among other activities./WDJ
