Año: Department is currently building cases

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año yesterday revealed several mayors from Panay and Negros are still on their drugs list. In an exclusive interview with Watchmen Daily Journal, he said the department is currently in the process of building cases against the officials.

However, the cabinet official refused to reveal the identities of the said mayors, saying, it would require direct clearance from President Rodrigo Duterte.

He added, the mayors should know they are on the list.

“We are just building up a case against them [and], sooner or later they [will] be arrested,” Año said.

Meanwhile, the DILG secretary also expressed hopes the upcoming midterm elections will be successful and peaceful.

He added, a nationwide revamp of police officers was implemented by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in order to ensure provincial directors, city directors, and chiefs of police are not familiar with the opposing parties in the election.
