The police officer who was gunned down last week in Barangay Singcang-Airport by still-unidentified suspects was laid to rest yesterday.
Deputy Police Station 6 commander, Senior Police Officer 4 Oscar Exaltado, was buried at Bacolod Memorial Park in Barangay Alijis, where he was given a 21-gun salute by Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) colleagues.
The family, meanwhile, also took the time to reiterate their claims the officer was never involved in any illegal activity and insisted he “lived an honest life.”
In a follow-up interview with BCPO officer-in-charge, Police Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, he said they have yet to identify the gunmen as witnesses claimed they were wearing helmets and bonnets at the time of the incident.
Closed-circuit television camera footage were also deemed unusable as the picture quality was poor.
He added, illegal drugs are still being considered the primary motive behind the incident, but they are currently lack strong evidence to back-up the angle./DGB, WDJ
