Three athletes from Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) will be representing the Philippines in the 2019 Arafura Games, scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 4 in Darwin, Australia. Beginning in 1991, the event invites athletes from across the Asia-Pacific region and intends to foster goodwill between neighbors and to share sporting and cultural knowledge.

Franz Gela Romualdo Bintad, May Therese Gula, and Ara Babora Delotavo were selected to compete by the Philippine Sports Commission.

“I know it will not be easy because I will be facing tough opponents,” said Escalante City-native Bintad, who will compete in discus throw. “I will go there to give my best and hopefully take home a medal.”

Meanwhile, Gula of Bacolod City will compete in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters dash, while Silay City-native Delotavo will participate in the hurdles event./ASC, WDJ
