Don Salvador Benedicto, dubbed the “Summer Capital of Negros Occidental,” is still the last frontier in terms of nature. The lush vegetation and thick forest cover must be protected in order for the next generation to enjoy its beauty.

The cool weather is comparable to Baguio City and, despite high elevations, motorists can easily reach the town via the beautifully-maintained roads under the watch of Department of Public Works and Highways District Engineer Jaime SJ Javellana.

The serenity and beauty of nature has made the destination a worthwhile experience for both local and foreign tourists. The local government, led by Mayor Marxlene Dela Cruz, ensure peace and order – when there is peace and order, investments will come.

The mayor has a lot of projects intended to benefit local residents such as support regularly distributed to local farmers from the municipal government, the procurement of vehicles and technology in the event of disaster, and protection of the local environment.

There have also been a lot of new coffee shops sprouting up along the highway serving the best native coffee in town.

There is also the Kali- Kalihan Harvest Festival, celebrated from February 1 to 9, which offers an array of organic foods and farm produce, along with merry-making.

Don Salvador Benedicto is a haven for people who wish to unwind. It is also a good place to live and the crystal clear waters of the Pandanon River can soothe the spirit – it is a destination wonderfully made by the Creator./WDJ
