Bacolod City was one of 15 localities in the Western Visayas recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for passing their “Good Financial Housekeeping” standards for 2018.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia called the recognition “inspiring” and said it reassured the administration that they are “on the right track.”
The mayor said the City Treasurer’s Office reported a total collection of P1,444,728,501 in real property taxes and other non-tax revenues in 2018, surpassing the collection target of P1,013,816,656.
Formerly known as the “Seal of Good Housekeeping,” the standards refer to compliance by the local government unit with accounting and auditing standards, along with rules and regulations; including unqualified or qualified Commission on Audit opinion of the immediately preceding year, as well as compliance with the full disclosure policy of local budget and finances, bids, and public offerings./DGB, WDJ
