The CineKasimanwa Film Festival recently named the latest batch of short film grant recipients, who are each awarded P100,000 to produce a short film featuring nine to 10 tourists attractions, facilities, and events in the Western Visayas.
The recipients include Leo Art Borres for “Soul Searching,” Kenneth De la Cruz for “Tangis,” Julius De la Peñafor – “Sound Bites,” Kyle Fermindoza – “Ang Babayi sa Bahura,” Dennis Hubag – “Hila(u)was,” Carlos Navarrete – “Ribuk,” Mark Joseph Perez – “Guna,” Aldrich Rosano – “Pagkadamuhal,” Kurt Soberano – “Jameson,” and Fatima Villarta and Gian Genoveza – “Pinili.”
“The Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) understands the impact of films to the consciousness of our people all over the world,” said DOT-6 director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas. “Through CineKasimanwa, we plan to maximize this platform to promote our region as a tourist destination and settings or locale [for] films while highlighting our culture, traditions, and values.”
The film premieres are tentatively scheduled for November 3 at the SM City Iloilo cinemas./WDJ
