Ceres-Negros FC will be one of eight clubs competing in the 2019 Philippine Premier League, which replaces the Philippines Football League (PFL).
The league is scheduled to run from March to December, alongside the Copa Paulino Alcantara.
Unlike its predecessor, Premier League matches will primarily be played in Metro Manila with the University of Makati Stadium under consideration as a possible venue.
“This is a rebirth – a reboot,” explained League Commissioner Bernie Sumayao. “We’re trying to raise the profile of football.”
“There was also a lack of sponsorship [in the PFL] – all of these things were missing,” he added. “These are the elements we want to bring in this time around.”
Kaya FC-Iloilo will also be competing in the league./ASC, WDJ
