Former Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Rafael Alunan III, who is running for senate, said he is confident of victory in the upcoming midterm elections. In addition, the candidate dismissed the findings of recent pre-election surveys, calling them a “distraction.”
“Let the people decide,” he stated.
The former cabinet official said he will stick to his strategy of engagement on social media and investing time with traditional media, which includes radio talks and writing columns.
Based on a Pulse Asia senatorial survey conducted earlier this month, incumbent Senator Grace Poe currently tops the list, followed by another incumbent, Senator Cynthia Villar; former Senators Pia Cayetano Lito Lapid; and incumbent Senator Nancy Binay.
The campaign period for senatorial candidates and party-list groups begins on February 12, while local positions are scheduled for March 29./DGB, WDJ
