The Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently passed a resolution permitting journalists to vote absentee for the upcoming midterm elections.

According to Iloilo provincial election supervisor, Atty. Roberto Salazar, media practitioners, members of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, along with government officials and employees assigned to perform election duties in areas where they are not registered, are permitted to vote absentee.

He noted, applicants for absentee voting must already be registered to vote.

Absentee applications will be accepted until March 11, with the absentee voting period scheduled from April 29 to May 1.

In addition to their application, journalists must also provide an endorsement letter from their respective station manager or editor./WDJ
