CHO affirms commitment to sanitary practices
The Iloilo City Health Office (CHO) recently reminded food handlers and vendors of certain sanitation standards and requirements for the upcoming Dinagyang food festival, which begins on Friday, January 25.
“There are a lot of tourists coming to witness this event and we have to ensure that the food they eat from the kiosks are safe,” explained City Health officer, Dr. Bernard Caspe. “That is why we require health cards.”
Based on Memorandum Order No. 18, issued by Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III earlier this month, health cards are required of all food vendors.
Caspe also advised food sellers to wash their hands and serve fresh food in order to avoid food contamination.
Sanitation inspectors are expected to check for health cards on the first day of the event./WDJ
