A viewing of Sunday’s World Boxing Association welterweight bout between Senator Manny Pacquiao and Adrien Broner at the Barangay Villamonte gym in Bacolod City was nearly sabotaged.

Barangay Villamonte Captain Rommel Flores said they were initially unable to turn on their equipment to broadcast the fight, although they eventually managed to get everything functioning in time to air the bout.

According to the barangay official, an investigation was immediately conducted and found a janitor claimed two men, claiming to be from a cable company, visited the facility to check the lines. However, the two unidentified men allegedly cut electrical lines, which caused the initial failure of the viewing equipment.

Flores has since reported the incident to police.

The Villamonte gym was one of the eight public live viewing sites for the fight across the city./DGB, WDJ
