Rain expected in Negros

The first storm system of 2019 entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility last Saturday and is expected to bring rains to Negros over the next two days.
Based on a weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 2:00 p.m. yesterday, Tropical Depression Amang was last spotted 235 kilometers east southeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
The storm is reportedly moving west northwest at 30 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts up to 60 kph.
PAGASA warned the storm will generate moderate to heavy rains and is currently forecasted to pass over the northern part of Negros today between early to late morning.
As of press time, 12 areas of the country are currently under a Storm Signal No.1.
A general flood warning was also issued in Negros Oriental.
In addition, residents living along mountain slopes were told to look out for possible landslides, while those living in low-lying areas were warned over possible flash floods./DGB, WDJ
