Ilonggo mixed martial artist Robin Catalan scored a unanimous decision victory over Indonesian fighter Stefer Rahardian over the weekend during ONE: Eternal Glory at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.

“I am happy to be able to bounce back from my loss last year,” said Catalan.

The Iloilo City native ended his ONE Championship season last year with a submission loss to Japan’s Hayato Suzuki.

During Saturday’s bout, Catalan appeared to have a response to all of the attacks lodged against him, which were displayed through a takedown defense that brought the fight to the ground.

“It also helped me that [Rahardian] was a former opponent of my brother; so I [had] an idea [of] how to beat him,” he added.

Catalan overcame his opponent’s reach advantage with leg kicks and kicks to the body, resulting in a one-sided decision win after three rounds./ASC, WDJ
