A retired soldier reportedly drowned yesterday morning while swimming in the vicinity of the Bredco Port at Purok Cambodia in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Police identified the fatality as 58-year-old Joselito Occeño, a retired sergeant of the Philippine Army and resident of Purok Mabinuligon in the city’s Barangay 19.

Based on a statement provided by Occeño’s wife, Occeño normally goes for a swim three times a week as therapy for his arthritis.

She said they do not believe that there was foul play involved as they did not find any injuries to the victim’s head.

The wife added, it is possible her husband may have slipped on the rocks in the area, which ultimately led to his drowning./DGB, WDJ
