A 3.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded early Friday morning near Guimbal, Iloilo. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tremor struck around 12:16 a.m.
According to a subsequent agency bulletin, the quake did not cause any reported damage nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Based on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, earthquakes that range between 3.0 and 3.9 in magnitude are considered between a Level II and III, where a few people feel the tremor, particularly those on the upper floors of buildings.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs also noted, seismic readings registering an Intensity Level II were recorded in San Joaquin, Iloilo and La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
In addition, an Intensity Level I, where the tremor goes almost undetected, was recorded in Bago City, Negros Occidental and San Jose de Buenavista, Antique./WDJ
