Calvin Abueva offered some heroics in Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters’ narrow 93-92 win over the Meralco Bolts in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup last Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Trailing 92-91 after a three-pointer by Meralco’s Chris Newsome, Abueva was at the right place at the right time and converted, putting Phoenix ahead for good with 4.1 seconds left in the game.

Abueva finished the game with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City native Justin Chua came up with a career game and took action in the second half to keep Phoenix afloat after Meralco erased an 18-point deficit.

The former Trinity Christian School player led scoring with a career-high 24 points, while Matthew Wright added 18 and Jason Perkins contributed 13.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kay [coach Louie Alas] dahil binibigyan niya ako ng chance (I thank coach Louie Alas for giving me a chance),” said Chua./ASC, WDJ
