Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge, Police Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, said city police personnel were affected by President Rodrigo Duterte naming five high-ranking police officers of having involvement with illegal drugs.
With regard to the ongoing probe by Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) into other law enforcement officials with possible links to illegal drugs, Biñas said there is no need to comment on the situation.
The recently-appointed BCPO chief affirmed there will be no reshuffling within the BCPO since he is serving as officer-in-charge.
He also assured the public, despite the statements by the president, it will not serve as a basis to stop working.
Biñas added, they will maintain and sustain the city’s low crime rate.
Over the weekend, Duterte accused ousted BCPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, and four other high-ranking cops of having links with illegal drugs.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, meanwhile, stated he had been asking for Ebreo’s relief since last year, after he and Bacolod City lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya learned Ebreo had been meeting with Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan and Abang Lingkod partylist Rep. Stephen Paduano without the then-BCPO director reporting the matter./DGB, WDJ
