After closing last August, the Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital will reopen today as Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital Incorporated.

The medical facility, which will be led by Chief Executive Officer Lucio Giron, along with Doctors Wilson Tulmo and Jerome Pepingco designated as medical directors, has a 120-bed capacity.

Hospital consultant and spokesperson, Dr. Evangeline Johnson, believes the facility will help resolve the overcrowding issue at hospitals in Bacolod City, particularly after their predecessor shut down.

Last year, Lady of Mercy Hospital ceased operations after the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) denied their accreditation.

According to PhilHealth, their application for accreditation as a Level 2 provider was denied due to “fraudulent acts.”

Negros Healthcare Management Systems, Inc., the company in charge of the shuttered facility, claimed the acts in question were conducted by previous management, Tiong Bi Inc./DGB, WDJ
