Between January 4 and 10, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported a 17.5 percent decrease in crime as compared to the same period last year.
“ICPO is doing its best to prevent crimes,” said ICPO Deputy Operations director, Police Superintendent Rogen Morales. “We are conducting enhanced managing police operation weekly wherein we monitor the occurrence of crimes; each station presents data for us to identify the crimes, after which, we direct station commanders to implement measures and strategies.”
The 2019 report found 14 index crimes reported, which includes murder, homicide, physical injury and rape, and crimes against property, as compared to nine last year; however, non-index crimes, which includes child abuse, illegal drugs, illegal firearms, traffic offenses, among others, dropped from 31 to 19.
ICPO also conducted five buy-bust operations, which resulted in the confiscation of 36 sachets of suspected shabu, three firearms, and three explosives.
Five wanted individuals were also arrested./WDJ
