Familiaran: Vendors must wait for a garbage truck to pass

The Bacolod City government unveiled their new strategy for garbage collection at markets.

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who leads the Solid Waste Action Team, said a meeting was held with IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC), the Department of Public Services, and other pertinent sectors to discuss complaints received regarding garbage at the city markets.

He said they agreed on barring market vendors from disposing waste at so-called “mini-dumpsters” and requiring them to only bring out their garbage when an IPM-CDC truck passes.

The vice mayor said he and Bacolod City Councilor Cindy Rojas recently met with Libertad Market vendors who were reportedly in agreement with the new strategy.

Familiaran is scheduled to meet with other market vendor groups in the city this week./DGB, WDJ
