Philippine National Police (PNP) Director-General Oscar Albayalde assured the case surrounding former Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, will undergo due process.
In a radio interview yesterday morning, Albayalde said, even though President Rodrigo Duterte accused Ebreo of alleged involvement with illegal drugs, it does not mean he is guilty.
The PNP chief pointed out, Ebreo is not on either the PNP or the president’s drugs watchlist, but noted, Duterte has his own sources.
He added, Ebreo would be given the chance to explain himself.
The former BCPO chief, along with four other police officers, identified as Police Superintendents Allan Macapagal, Richie Yatar, Nasruddin Tayuan; and Police Senior Inspector Victor Paulino, were named by Duterte of having alleged links to illegal drugs in the city.
In response to the allegations, Police Regional Office-6 director, Police Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, immediately relieved the five officers from their respective posts and were reassigned to the Regional Police Holding and Accounting Unit while an investigation is conducted.
Ebreo was replaced by Police Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas./DGB, WDJ
