Religious events open today
The San Jose Parish Church will be opening religious events for the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival with Sto. Niño Masses beginning today and running until January 24. Services begin at 6:00 a.m. with mass in Ilonggo, with additional masses in English scheduled throughout the day.
The image of Sto. Niño is also expected to arrive today at 6:30 a.m. from Cebu, where a motorcade is scheduled and set to pass through Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara, Pavia, Barangay Sambag in Iloilo City’s Jaro district, and ending at the San Jose Parish Church.
In addition, the installation of Hermano Mayor and Hermana Mayor 2019 will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the church.
Tomorrow, the San Jose Parish Church will host the re-enactment of the Baptism of Queen Juana.
Other events scheduled throughout the festival include the Sto. Niño Mass for the barangay children on January 19; re-enactment of the Coronation of Niño Dinagyang 2018 on January 20; re-enactment of the image’s arrival at San Jose, re-enactment of the original merry-making, and floral offering at the Rev. Fr. Ambrosio Galindez monument on January 24; and a fluvial procession from Fort San Pedro and foot procession from the Iloilo Customs House on January 25.
There will also be a mass and blessing for Sto. Niño images, pregnant mothers, and children on January 25./WDJ
