Volleyball player Jeanny Noh Padilla of Bacolod City is set to join the University of the Philippines (UP). The libero credited both a chance to improve her volleyball career and to study at a good school.
“Malaking opportunity para sa akin na makapag aral sa UP since UP is a well-respected university and also maganda rin ang education na prinepresent ng university (It is a big opportunity for me to study at UP since it is a well-respected university and also offers a good education,” she explained. “Maganda rin ang volleyball program ng UP and I see myself improving my being libero further under coach [Godfrey Okomu] (The volleyball program is also good and I see myself further improving as a libero under coach Godfrey Okomu).”
“I will just do my best to show them na hindi sila nagkamali sa pagkuha sa akin (I will do my best to show them they were not wrong in selecting me,” she added.
Padilla will be leaving Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) for the opportunity with UP. BTTHS team manager Jose Montalbo said the player had been sought after for a while.
“Matagal nang gusto ni Okomu si Jeanny since he saw her play (Okomu has liked Padilla for a while since seeing her play,” he said. “She will quickly fit in sa Lady Maroons since mabait namang bata ‘yan at nakikinig sa mga coaches (She will fit in quickly with the Lady Maroons since she is a good kid and listens to the coaches).”
Padilla is the second BTTHS player to join UP after Ilongga setter Marianne Sotomil./ASC, WDJ
