Bago City-born boxer Aston ‘Mighty’ Palicte will face Puerto Rican fighter Jose Martinez in a World Boxing Organization super flyweight eliminator on January 31 at the Viejas Casino and Resort in Alpine, California. The winner will move on to meet Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes of Murcia, who captured the belt following a split decision win over Japan’s Kazuto Ioka.
“I am happy to have the opportunity to fight for another world championship,” Palicte said. “I have worked very hard to get here and I want to give the fans the best fight possible.”
Martinez called the bout “the most important fight” of his career and characterized his opponent as a “high-level boxer.”
“I will train really hard to be in the best condition,” he added./ASC, WDJ
