Ceres-La Salle FC won the 3rd Sagay City Men’s Open Football Championship after defeating De La Salle University, 3-1, last Thursday at the Sagay National High School Football Field in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

After taking a 2-1 first half lead, the eventual champions tightened their defense in the second half to help secure victory.

The North Negros team, which defeated Ceres-La Salle FC in last year’s finals, took bronze after beating Bayawan-Negros Oriental, 1-0, in the consolation match.

The competition was held to promote the sport of football and in support of the Negros Occidental Football Association goal to strengthen sports across the province./ASC, WDJ
