Iloilo City will be participating in the upcoming 2019 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, scheduled for February 21, which serves as a test to see how ready the public is in the event of an earthquake.

“Iloilo City showcased a very outstanding drill as a regional pilot last year,” said Office of the Civil Defense-Region VI Assistant Director Maria Aletha Nogra. “That is why we are here to help the city comply with the requirements.”

The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) recently coordinating a meeting regarding the event.

“We will be finalizing the exact location of the drill,” said CDRRMO head Donna Magno. “For this to be realistic, we will be simulating a shake drill with a magnitude of 8.2.”

CDRRMO plans to have various stages for the earthquake drill, physical setup, contingency plan, security plan, among other situations./WDJ
