Local security councils activate today

The Bacolod City and Negros Occidental Joint Security Councils are expected to be activated today in preparation for the 2019 midterm elections in May.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) elections supervisor for Bacolod City, Atty. Mavil Majarucon-Sia, said, during the activation, representatives from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Comelec will meet to assess security concerns for the election period.

Majarucon-Sia said a unity walk is also scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Bacolod Public Plaza, along with local candidates being asked to sign a peace covenant.

She added, the said walk will be led by the Bacolod City Police Office./DGB, WDJ
