Barangay 10 still a no-show
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said the ongoing Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) at the Bacolod City Government Center has completed 6,281 business registrations.
With the event scheduled to close on January 20, the mayor has since requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod to pass a measure extending the deadline to February 28.
A similar extension was passed last year.
He also noted, Barangay 10 is the only barangay not yet participating in the event.
Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo, Sr. earlier explained barangays must set up at the event in order to provide applicants with documentation such as barangay business clearances. The city official also previously cited RA 11032, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, which he said requires participation by barangays in the said program.
While Leonardia said he has not been provided a reason for the barangay’s non-participation, the mayor said an official communication will be sent to the community’s officials and the matter will be forwarded to the city’s legal office, which would coordinate with the Department of the Interior and Local Government./DGB, WDJ
