New NOPPO chief sworn in

Police Senior Superintendent Romeo Baleros was formally sworn in yesterday as the new Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) officer-in-charge during a ceremony the NOPPO headquarters at Camp Alfredo Montelibano in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.

Baleros replaces outgoing NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., who was relieved last month and is set to become Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) intelligence chief.

The new NOPPO chief said he will focus on the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs and security preparations for the upcoming 2019 midterm elections. He also expressed appreciation for PRO-6 director, Police Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao; Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.; and Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who was present for the event.

Also present were vice gubernatorial candidate, former fourth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer; and Police Senior Superintendent Harold Tuzon, who represented Bulalacao.

The Philippine National Police is expected to reshuffle officers nationwide, especially those who have already served two years at the same post./DGB, WDJ
