The Bureau of Immigration recently revealed 145 sex offenders were barred entry into the Philippines between January and November of last year. According to the agency, the offenders all had convictions in their respective home countries.
“Our immigration law expressly provides for the exclusion of foreigners convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude,” explained Port Operations Division Chief Grifton Medina.
The number is a lower figure from the same period in the prior year, where 165 were prevented from entering the country.
“These aliens pose a serious and real threat to Filipinos,” stated Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente. “We are trying to prevent women and children from being victimized by these convicted perverts.”/WDJ
