DOT-6 issues advisory for lodging establishments
With Tropical Depression “Usman” expected to make landfall in the Western Visayas today, December 29, the Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) issued an advisory for local lodging establishments.
The agency called on all DOT-accredited accommodation establishments in the region to ensure their guests are taken care of during the storm. They also addressed the matter of stranded passengers, stating in a press release, “Please take guests back in your accommodation establishments and shelter them.”
In addition, DOT-6 requested local lodging establishments to “extend substantial discounts” to guests forced to stay longer.
Earlier this year, DOT conducted a regional tourism crisis management symposium in Iloilo City, which identified risk factors that could lead to crisis for the local tourism industry, including environmental hazards./WDJ
