Two earthquakes were recorded in Negros Oriental yesterday. A 2.6-magnitude quake struck west of Siaton at 7:57 a.m. and a 2.1-magnitude tremor struck east of Guihulngan City that afternoon, around 1:37 p.m.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, no damage was reported as a result of either occurrence. There were also no aftershocks expected.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
