Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corporation (Bredco) Port Manager Romeo Casela revealed new port management will provide an additional budget this year for more development projects.

“We are still reviewing the facilities and already have a plan for the improvement of the RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) terminal this year,” he said. “We will also rehabilitate some of the damaged pier apron to conform with the safe handling methodology of [cargo].”

Other project highlights include fencing off the perimeter for a more secure port, the installation of lighting facilities, and resuming dredging operations.

Casela pointed out, dredging operations stopped due to rehabilitation of the dredging machine and the construction of a bigger parking area, which will be located at the soon-to-be demolished fastcraft terminal.

“When we transfer here, we are still in [a] state of developing all the facilities,” the port chief stated. “The RoRo passengers [are] the next step.”

“We have already done the fastcrafts and 2Go Manila-Bacolod run, which are accepting more passengers than the RoRo.”/DGB, WDJ
