Another Negros Oriental radio broadcaster was shot dead by still-unidentified riding-in-tandem suspects yesterday in La Libertad.

Police identified the fatality as Gabriel ‘Commander Aguila’ Alburo, a radio broadcaster for LikeRadio DYJL 94.5 and resident of Guihulngan City in the said province.

Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca, said Alburo was returning home from a cock derby in the said town when he was attacked.

The victim was killed on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds across his body.

Investigators recovered 10 empty .45 caliber shells from the crime scene.

Tacaca said they are looking at multiple angles on the incident as it may be linked to his job in the media industry.

Authorities are also considering a possible grudge as the motive since, prior to the incident, there were claimed Alburo engaged in a heated argument with someone during cock fight.

Alburo is the third radio broadcaster to be killed in Negros following the deaths of Dumaguete City-based radio broadcaster Edmund Sestoso of dyGB 91.7 FM, and San Carlos City-based radio personality and sugarcane workers’ group leader Julius Broce Barellano of Radyo Bandera Sweet FM./DGB, WDJ
