The Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU-6) in Western Visayas has seized P107,630 worth of firecrackers and pyrotechnics transported without permit by a seller in Bacolod City on Wednesday, December 26.
Senior Police Officer 1 Joshua Barile, head of RCSU-6 Firearms and Explosive Section, said in an interview yesterday that retailer John Harley Vertudes failed to present a permit to transport being issued by their office.
Barile said that during the inspection conducted by the team of Senior Supt. Jomil John Trio, chief of RCSU-6, Vertudes did not have a permit to transport and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer.
Vertudes said he bought the items from the dealer’s warehouse on Alijis Road.
Barile said the retailer told them he did not secure a permit to transport because the volume of the goods was just minimal.
Barile said firecracker retailers have been told to secure a permit to transport with a fee of P360 during the required seminar for sellers conducted by the police.
“We, in the regulating body for firecrackers, we hold a dialogue with them before the month of December. They cannot blame us if we carry out an enforcement. They are well-informed regarding the rules and regulations,” he added.
Barile said the RCSU-6 utilizes force multipliers in gathering intelligence information regarding violations of Republic Act 7183, or an Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices. (PNA)
