The annual Lights of Bago, set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on January 1 at the city’s Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Sports Complex, is expected to ring in 2019 with an ‘80s vibe as new wave hits will serve as the soundtrack for the occasion.

Spectators will have throwback moments when songs such as “Jump” by Van Halen, “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, and “Karma Chameleon” by Culture Club play throughout the event.

Now in its 11th year, Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo is inviting everyone to take part, saying, “The skies of Bago will sparkle again with multi-colored lights cascading down in sparkling flames.”

This year’s event is also being conducted in support of the Department of Health’s “Oplan Iwas Paputok” campaign, which seeks to reduce the number of firecracker-related injuries.

According to the Bago City Health Office, firecracker injuries in the city dropped by 70 percent last year./WDJ
