The sale of firecrackers and other pyrotechnics is currently underway at the rear of the Pope John Paul II Tower, located in Bacolod City’s reclamation area.
In a radio interview, Bacolod Firecracker Vendors Association President Allan Pacheco said, of the 68 kiosks constructed in the designated firecracker zone, 57 were provided permits by Police Regional Office-6.
He pointed out, a few of their members were unable to set-up kiosks in time as they have yet to secure permits and inspections with the authorities.
Pacheco stated some of those kiosks may have permits released today.
In an interview Watchmen Daily Journal conducted with a kiosk owner, it was revealed a majority of vendors refrained from selling firecrackers and instead concentrated on pyrotechnic devices such as fountains and rockets.
Currently, a fountain pyrotechnic device is sold between P60 and P65, while Luces is priced from P20 to P85.
A new type of rocket called Scuds Missile is priced at P350, while Baby Rockets are sold between P60 and P270 depending in class.
A few firecrackers are still sold with Cathay currently priced at P30 per piece and Triangle costing around P70 for 100 pieces.
It was also noted, all firecrackers and pyrotechnics being sold have the required markings set by police and the Department of Trade and Industry./DGB, WDJ
