Negros Occidental third district Congressman Alfredo Benitez celebrated his 54th birthday last Thursday in Talisay City, which featured appearances by senatorial candidates, former Philippine National Police Director-General Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.
In a media interview, Benitez said candidate appearances show how important the third district is in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
The congressman, who is in his third and final term, said, while there is no more time to pursue any further legislation in the House of Representatives, he is currently awaiting President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature on legislation establishing the Department of Human Settlements, which would address the country’s housing concerns.
During the event, Benitez also showcased the projects he accomplished during his terms in office.
An estimated 18,146 people, mostly barangay officials serving in the local district, attended the celebration.
